FAQ on our services

We get asked a lot of questions when it comes to moving so we have put together the most common questions we get asked in hopes this will help you with any questions you may have regarding your move. However, if you have any specific questions, please contact us and we will be more than happy to answer your query.

How much will it cost to move?
This depends on many factors such as, what you’re moving, where too, how many removal porters and removal vans are required etc. We can often give a price over the phone or via Email, or if your move is a large move or you require a content packing service we can visit the property in question to carry out an on-site survey where we will be able to give you an accurate quotation.

For smaller local home removals or office moves, we charge by the hour with a minimum of a 2-hour charge, our hourly rate depends on your specific moving requirements.

What Packing Services Do You Offer?
We can provide you with multiple domestic or commercial packing options:

  • Full Packing

We will carefully and professionally pack all your boxable effects saving you time and effort. you can rest assured that your personal belongings are packed by trained staff to a high standard. Letting you concentrate on what matters.

  • Fragile Packing (China & Glass)

You won’t need to worry about your most sensitive china and glass. Your fragile packing is in good hands with our well-trained packing team. So you can relax while we pack your most precious items in your property. You can then focus on packing the rest of your belongings before the big moving day!

  • Self Packing (DIY)

Here you can pack all of your worldly belongings yourself prior to your removal day, we can supply you with all the materials you will need to pack your home safely at an affordable price and offer you advice on packing your house ready for removal.

  • Unpacking

As the name suggests we can help you unpack your removal boxes.

How long does it take to move house?
This depends on many factors, such as, how large your home is, how many belongings you have, how much furniture you own and what type of removal service you require. Most home removals are done in one day but if you require a home packing service this normally adds an additional day, it depends on your circumstances. This can be clarified over the phone or during your home survey.
What do i need to do on the day of the move?
Just be as organised as you can, with all your box lids taped shut. On the day of your move you need to tell our porters what’s going and what’s not going then is not much you need to do other than relax while Reds Removals take over for a while, you can, however, ensure good access to your property(s) and create a suitable workspace for our porters to wrap and prepare and  your belongings to be moved. One of your most important jobs is to be there at your new home so we know in which rooms and where you require your goods placing.
What if I need storage to store my belongings?
We offer affordable container storage, but if you would like access to your goods whilst it is in storage we work with leading self-storage companies in our area. By using self-storage you will be able to access your goods at your own convenience if need. If your items need to go into storage, we will be able to tell you the size of unit required on the day of your removal saving paying for wasted storage space you don’t need. Even though it is self-storage, as part of our service we will deliver your items and professionally pack your unit for you. As we are highly experienced at packing goods effectively into storage units, this will save you money on storage fees.
Can you dismantle furniture and reassemble it at my new home?
Yes, we strive to make your move easy and where you cannot or don’t wish to dismantle furniture that will not fit out of the home or could be dangerous to move whole, we can if arranged, dismantle furniture such as beds, wardrobes, etc, and reassemble at your new property. We can disconnect and reconnect white goods where applicable and even set up your TV’s and set-top boxes.
When we arrive at our new home what will happen with our goods?
On delivery to your new home you must be present to tell us what rooms and where to place your goods, we will then place all boxes and furniture in the rooms you ask us to and in the position you want it in. Our removal porters will also be happy to move your furniture around in the same room if you are not happy with your first choice of position.
Are my belongings insured with Reds Removals?
Yes, you can rest assured that you are covered when using Reds Removals to help with your home move. We have full Goods in Transit insurance, Public Liability, Employers Liability and Hire & Reward vehicle insurance. Please refer to our terms of service regarding our liabilities for loss and damage and please remember to fill out an Inventory form prior to your move taking place.
Do you have any extra or hidden charges?
The only item we carry at extra cost is packing materials and self-adhesive carpet protector film, you are welcome to ask the removal porters how much extra it will be to use this in your home to help protect your carpets, for health and safety reasons they cannot remove their safety shoes whilst carrying any goods.

How do I pay for my move?
In some cases, we will require an upfront deposit or payment up front to secure your booking. If we do not take full payment prior to you move all removals must be paid for on completion, the head porter will present you with your invoice towards the end of the move and payment can be made by instant bank transfer or cash, we can also accept credit card payments by prior arrangement. (Please note we have the right to ask for payment before your goods are unloaded and we do not accept cheques)
